The Ballerina Roundhouse Ring
Brass or 24k Gold Plated
This moonstone ring represents two muses. A ballerina in a roundhouse and Josephine Baker dancing the Charleston. To wear this ring is to look at your hand and be reminded of the magical capability of the human body - especially that particular brand of witchcraft that allows a dancer to take flight. My attempt to capture the effortless beauty of dance in a crude and curious ring.
Parade draws inspiration from the ballet of the same name, by Leonide Massine, Eric Satie, Jean Cocteau and with costumes and set design by Pablo Picasso. Continuing on with my circus themed jewels I looked to Parade for a cubist spin. First performed by the Ballets Russes in Paris in 1917, the production is set at a funfair or fairground and follows the story of a traveling circus troupe.
I invite you to adorn your favourite performer…
